1 Star Worst vacuum cleaner owned
I’ve always owned Kenmore vacuums that have lasted at least 10 years. I decided I wanted an upright and purchased a Hoover Windtunnel - huge mistake! After a few months, a belt broke. Then after a year, the self-propel mechanism stopped working and it’s no longer under warranty. It will cost me almost 1/2 the cost of the machine just to get it looked at. Now a couple of years later with the same machine, the machine even feels heavier and hurts my arm when I vacuum because the self-propel doesn’t work and I’m not sure why it feels even heavier. I will never buy a Hoover again.

4 Stars Good buy
Overall a great vaccuum. The self-propelled motion goes too fast to pick up the dirt well, but you can turn it off and it is still easy to maneuver.

4 Stars So far so good
I’ve been using this vacuum for about two weeks now. There’s plenty of suction and the agitator does a nice job of “re-piling” (not sure if that’s a real term) the carpet. It’s definitely louder than my old Kenmore upright but not deafening. I was a little disappointed that I had to manually clear out a clog in the suction tube a couple days ago. It seems that between my wife’s hair and all of the carpet fibers that they couldn’t make their way into the HEPA bag (provided). I assumed the bag was full and went out and bought new bags. I opened the bag compartment, pulled ofF the old bag, which was only about two-thirds full, and saw a suction-tube shaped pillar of fuzz hanging out of the tube. I had to reem a coat hanger through to clear out the obstruction. Maybe I had the height selector set too low and was getting too much carpet fiber (there’s no real guideline as to what constitutes low, medium, or high carpet). I read before that some people complained of the accessories falling off the machine and that they’re flimsy and cheap. They are plastic but they seem robust enough to serve their collective purpose. I haven’t had an issue with them falling off the machine or falling out of the suction hose during use. The air-powered upholstery tool is pretty neat. I especially like the sound it makes as it winds up (like a jet engine lol). It also does a nice job on our microfiber couch, loveseat, and recliner. We don’t have any carpeted stairs but I imagine it would do well on those too. It would be nice to see this vacuum come with an additional length of suction hose. If I were to use this to do more than two or three stairs, the length of the standard hose might make it a difficult task (my old Kenmore came with an additional accessories hose that you just jammed onto the end of the regular hose, came in handy on many occasions). I tried out the self-propelled feature but turned it off after a few seconds. The vacuum isn’t that difficult to handle in the first place and I felt that the self-propelled feature just complicated things (it’s pretty strong). If I don’t use, it won’t break, right? Overall I am happy with my purchase.

4 Stars Can it really be new or has it been refurbished inadequately?
Delivery was prompt for both vacuums, yes both vacuum cleaners.

I assembled the first (not too much to do) right away and was thrilled with its suction and deep cleaning. The thing that had me doubtful as soon as I opened it was that it had not been packaged properly. But, when I was teaching the woman who cleans my house about the “self propelled” feature, I realized that my vacuum was not doing it no matter how hard I tried to get the switch to move into position. Clearly, the switch on the handle didn’t go back and forth from ON - OFF position correctly. I wondered, since it wasn’t packaged quite right, whether I simply got someone’s return. I wouldn’t have cared if it worked as advertised.

Amazon was great when I expressed my concerns. They sent out a second one immediately. All I had to do was print the packing slip and get the first model to UPS within 30 days (no easy thing to do alone). The second “new” vacuum arrived a day later.

I didn’t open the package right away because I didn’t have time. When I did, the packaging looked better but when I slide the vacuum out of the box and took off the plastic that was around the head, the vacuum cleaner looked dusty. How could a brand new vacuum be dusty all over? Not only that, the wheels looked as if they had been dragged on something rough because they literally had scuff marks on them.

I didn’t have the heart to wrap it up again and send it back so I tried it, hoping I would be satisfied. This time the “self propelled” switch didn’t switch at all. It kind of rolled without resistance, back and forth. Whichever side it rolled to, there was no discernible difference in the movement of the vacuum. One time, though, I thought the vacuum lunged forward without a push.

To date, I don’t know what “self-propelled” actually is. I used the second machine for just a few minutes and wasn’t happy. I don’t know whether it is because I was tired and impatient, or simply wary about the fact that it was so dusty, or whether I was suddenly too weak to move the cleaner head switches (they seemed to be sticking) or that the “propelling” switch didn’t work (again) and simply rolled from left to right. Frankly, I am disappointed. A new machine should work . . .all functions.

How many machines does it take to get what I expected?

I have not sent back the second machine. I waited to get the review request as I had after the first delivery. It has taken awhile to come.

I want so much to know, “How can a boxed, brand new machine arrive dusty with scuff marks on its wheels and if the Hoover Windtunnel actually does self propel.” In short, I have tried two machines in less than a month and don’t have an answer to that.

5 Stars New Hoover Windtunnel Vacuum Cleaner
I owned an old Hoover Windtunnel vacuum cleaner which I purchased about ten or more years ago, so there were no disappointments with this new one other than it is a bit smoother in operation and looks.

If you want a top-notch upright vacuum cleaner that will keep your place spiffy, I wholeheartidly recommend this machine. Also, I might add, in my opinion, it is reasonably priced.

These machines will last you for ten or more years while requiring a minimum of maintenance, most of which can be handled by the use of a Phillips screwdriver.

4 Stars Great SteamVac that gets lots of dirty out of the Carpet
I previously had a Hoover SteamVac 2 and it was great but had leaking tanks for 10 years. Just recently, it lost suction so I decided to get a new SteamVac Dual V. The SteamVac2 appears to work better with the Auto Rinse feature than this new one.

We tried out the SteamVac Dual V today and it got lots of dirt out of the carpet and it’s brush looks fast and strong. For hard dirty spots, I had to go over a few times with the Hoover Deep Clean Shampoo and not all of them came out. I guess I will give the Oxy Clean shampoo version a try but it may not help.

The long hoses has a hard time staying on the handle unit but the hose unit does have great suction for carpeted stairs. Just make sure you squeeze that trigger hard (makes a sore hand later).

All I can said about this new vac is that the professional steam cleaning still wins in getting the job done over the SteamVac but this is definitely a second alternative to the pricey professional.

I still recommend this SteamVac over the Brissel one. My mother-in-law has the other one and it only lasted 6 months and broke.

5 Stars **Truly Amazing**!!
I tried it out on part of my carpet and was amazed as how much dirt was in my carpet, literally sand and grip. I was so disgusted I did the whole room. Worked perfectly, everything in perfect working order. To get the best results read and follow their steps for cleaning. Works better than the rental ones and will amaze you how well it cleans. GREAT SUCKTION.

5 Stars Awesome SteamVac
Great job cleaning my carpet. Recommendation so no dirty water drips on the carpet is when taking out the tank of dirty water just take the vacuum near the sink or wait a couple seconds before pulling it out the dirty tank. The reason you want to wait is because the drip comes from the lint tray. So just wait a little and there should be no problem. Most people that complain here about the dripping water are just impatient and just don’t use common sense. Also it hardly drips maybe a couple drops.

4 Stars AWESOME!!!
This is an amazing shampooer. The suction is so great that most of the water used to wash and rinse the carpet gets sucked back up. I shampooed my kids’ playroom and the carpet was dry enough for them to play within 2 hours.

My only complaint is that the soap/clean water tank unlatches more easily than I like.

5 Stars I love you, my Hoover
I bought this about 3 months ago and I’m sooooo glad I did. Prior to having this machine I cleaned my carpets every year or two. I usually called out a carpet cleaning company which would hurry through the whole house in half and hour and I didn’t see much of a difference. Once I rented a Rug Doctor, but also didn’t see much difference and it was awkward to use. Now I have the Hoover, and wow! Here’s why I love it…

-Really cleans the carpet well. I don’t get much dirty water out of the low traffic areas, but when I do my living room it gets out tons of grime, little stains are effortlessly gone, and the carpet looks clean and refreshed. For the first time I truly see a difference when I clean my carpets.

-Gets out most stains without any trouble. I have a little orange Gatorade stain I can’t get out, but I expected that.

-Love that this model has wash and rinse features. The rinse allows you to get all of the soapy water out. Not all models have the rinse feature.

-Love that this model has a separate place for the detergent and mixes it with the clean water while you use it. If you don’t use all the detergent you can save it for later. I wouldn’t want to mix up a whole gallon only for a small area and then throw out all of the unused mixture. It’s wasteful and discourages you from using it for small jobs.

-Just having a carpet cleaner is great! I never thought I would use it so much, but now that I have a toddler I can say that every expecting mother should put this on her baby registry! My daughter has had a stomach virus for several days and after using it to clean up all the vomit I’m more thankful for it than ever. I can get it set up and cleaning in minutes, it gets it all out, and the nasty smell is gone. I even used the hand tool to get what sprayed onto the couch. I’ve also used it to clean up pee on the couch and little dribbles of milk that get on the carpet when she carries around her sippy cup. When I was childless I never had moments where I had to clean something nasty ASAP. The worst I ever had was a spilled Coke. Well, nowadays I’m really happy knowing that I don’t have yucky, smelly toddler fluids building up in my carpet.

-The price is great! You can buy this for the same price as a few Rug Doctor rentals. Yes, there is a cheaper Hoover SteamVac, but I wouldn’t suggest it. I actually bought it and took it back when I realized it didn’t have rinse, separate detergent tank, hand spin brush, and the machine itself felt cheaper and lighter. There are many carpet cleaners on the market that cost more. I haven’t tried them, but honestly this one works so well I don’t see a reason to buy a more expensive one if you don’t have to.

5 Stars review of Hoover F7411-900 steamvac
This is my second hoover steamvac. The first lasted about 10 years, beat it up good. After reviewing the rest, I figured I would try hoover again. I found none of the so called “steamvacs”, actually use steam, or have heaters to heat the water. You put hot water into the holding tanks. This one has separate tanks for water & detergent, compared to my old steamvac that I had to mix then together. Compared to my old one, this one has 1 more circular brush. Works good. The suction seems to be stronger, could be my old one was just worn out. Hoover has made improvements on this one that I had to say, good idea, wow. I didn’t realize our carpets were so dirty. It had been like 6 months since the last cleaning. This machine works like a champ. It is a pain in the butt moving the furniture, but it’s good to see the carpets come clean. I am very happy with it.

5 Stars I might love this steam vac more than my husband.
Ok, I love my husband more because he is the one that bought it for me. Let me say I’ve only used it a few times but after borrowing and using my parents very expensive steam vac I was instantly in love with this one. Theirs was super hard to push, very heavy and hard to clean up after you were finished. This steam vac is amazingly easy to push and maneuver around, it does get heavier as the tank fills with water, but this is easy to remedy by emptying the tank again. Which brings me to the next thing I love about this, the entire lid to the tank comes off (not just a small hole to pour the water out of) which means you can literally clean out every bit of dirt and grime that accumulates in the tank. To clean my parents I had to use my garden hose and spray at all sorts of crazy angles getting myself wet in the mean time, this one I can clean easily in the sink. I love that I can opt to use water and cleaning solution OR just water. It also got all the spots in my carpet up, including the older ones. I am very pleased with this purchase. We watched the price on it which seemed to fluctuate between 160-200 dollars and bought it on sale. I am already telling my parents that they need to get rid of theirs and buy this one.

5 Stars Great product
This steam vac works great. I have a one year old, that loves to see his milk pour out of his bottles, and all over the carpets. I also have two large dogs (boxers) that come in with dirt and mud between their paws every now and then. This Hoover cleans it all up, and makes my carpets look new again. I use it once every month or so, and have loan it to two family members, and they loved it too….Cant beat the price either!!!!

5 Stars Hoover steam vac
Tried it for the first time and boy did the dirt come out. I had a Bissell that broke and did not realize it was going until I went over it again. It is a bit heavy but for the work it does I suppose I will live with it. Also it was pretty easy to put together, for I am not a good person for that.

5 Stars Best Steamer - have had for 10 mo no issues
We bought this steamer almost 10 months ago and still love it! This is truely the best steamer I have owned. I did not think anything could bring my carpets this clean but this did and even got stains out of the carpet that have been there for years. This machine has agreat rinse button that allows you to make sure you have gotten all the soap out. Additionally, because it directs hot air onto the carpet it seems to make the carpet dry faster than with other cleaners. Another great feature that I liked is with this machine you do not mix the detergent in with the water which allows you to pour the left over back into the bottle.
