4 Stars Nice little vacuum . . .
The Amazon reviews for this product were very helpful and match fairly well with my evaluation of the product. It is a powerful little vacuum, easy to use and easy to clean. It is a little heavy, but I was prepared for that, and I would much rather deal with an extra couple of pounds of weight than buy a smaller vac with less suction (I wouldn’t buy it for an elderly person, but the weight shouldn’t be an issue for most people). I am not bothered by the noise level: I’ve had vacuums that are louder, and this one seems to be in a pretty normal range to me (it IS louder than a Dust Buster, but it also works a lot harder than the Dust Buster). Overall, I am very satisfied with this vacuum, and after shopping around and trying out different products, I am happy that I wound up with this one, considering the flaws and performance of the others I tried. There are just a couple of things I really dislike, and these 2 things might have been enough to keep me from purchasing it in the first place: 1. the hose does NOT stretch to 3 times its length as the product description states. Perhaps if one person held the vac in place and another person pulled with all his/her might and stretched the hose as far as it could possibly go, at the moment just before the hose split from the strain, it might have reached 2.5 times the original length. Of course, no one will ever do that. The hose is just not stretchy enough to extend into all the spaces you need it to go. 2. Since the hose is not long enough, one wishes that the shape of the vac were a little less bulky and awkward. It is difficult to fit it into small spaces. Of course none of the attachments from my old handheld vac fit this one, so I’m going to try to buy the Eureka attachments to make up for these deficiencies. As I say, knowing this would probably have prevented my buying this vac, but I haven’t found a better one in this price range, so I am quite happy overall.
5 Stars Perfect for carpeted stairs
My vacuum is less than 2 weeks old and I’m very glad I chose the Eureka Corded Hand Held Vac. I was using a Hoover Linx cordless hand vac for my carpeted stairs. It just didn’t seem to have the suction strength I needed, the intake channel was simply too narrow to do this job quickly, and it took more time than I preferred to to clean my stairs. My Eureka Hand Held Vacuum Cleaner is PERFECT for my cartpeted stairs. It has the suction strength I need, a wide intack channel, and it does the job significantly faster. It’s a tad more weighty than I would prefer, but that is definitely not a deal breaker aspect. I’m very happy with my purchase.Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum
5 Stars Great vacuum
This vacuum is great! It is very powerful, light, and convenient. It’s great for use on the stairs. I highly recommend this product.
5 Stars Good stair sweeper
I used to have a dirt devil that I used for sweeping my carpeted stair cases. It died and I could not find another. Then I got this ad from Amazon with this vacuum listed, strange, how did they know I needed another one? Anyway, I like this one for the doing the stair cases more than the dirt devil. The Eureka has a door on the front that flips down and lets you vacuum the riser of the stair without all the gymnastics that I had to do with the other one. The crevice tool has a separate spot in the back for it, it is not stored in the hose reducing suction like the dirt devil did. I also like the canister you can empty, instead of a bag. It was always a pain to empty the dirt devil and you never knew when it was full; let alone find replacement bags for it.
4 Stars Great vacuum!
I love this little vacuum. It really “SUCKS” nicely, and is relatively light and easy to handle. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because the hose is a little shorter than I was expecting. Sometimes it’s a little awkward to use, and it makes it very difficult to clean the cobwebs in the corners by my ceiling. Otherwise, I love this vacuum!
